Leveling your warlord unlocks plenty of useful skills, which can help win tough battles.
There are two types of skills in the game:
- Passive skills are enabled at all times, providing bonuses to the warlord and/or the following army, as long as the warlord is alive.
- Active skills can be picked before the battle (up to 2 active skills at a time).
You can specialize your warlord in one of the three branches: Strength, Dexterity and Magic.
Each newly unlocked level grants 4 skill points that can be invested in one of these branches. These points grant their own bonuses respective to the branch, but also have tiers — reaching these allows you to unlock a skill.
If you want to change your warlord build, you can reset your skills with a consumable that can be found in the in-game store, event rewards and more.
Let’s go over the skills.
STRENGTH
Tier 1 skills (20 points)
Old
- Aura of Might (passive): increases physical defense by 25% and hit points by 10% for all Protector units in your army.
- Knockout (active): grants a 35% chance to deal a mighty blow to the fastest enemy unit, but skips the next turn.
- Protection (passive): increases shields’ defense values by 30%.
New
- Aura of Might (passive): Increases physical defense by 25% and hit points by 20% for all Protector units in your army.
- Shield of Faith (passive): Increases shields’ defense values by 50%
- Heavy Weapons (passive): Allows the warlord to equip two-handed melee weapons. Increases physical defense by 10% as long as a two handed weapon is equipped.
NOTE: in order to be able to equip two-handed melee weapons, a player must have the Heavy Weapons perk unlocked.
Tier 2 skills (60 points)
Old
- Regeneration (passive): restores 15% health points every turn.
- Heavy Weapons (passive): allows the warlord to equip two-handed melee weapons.
New
- Vanguard (passive): Increases health points by 30%.
- Knockout (active): Has 40% chance of dealing 3x attack damage to the fastest enemy during the first turn and skips 1 turn afterwards.
- Paladin of Destruction NEW (passive): The warlord can mix Sin and Stone units without a morale loss
Tier 3 skills (120 points)
Old
- Paladin’s Oath (passive): the warlord takes 35% reduced damage from demons’ attacks and skills.
- Face the Attack (passive): first enemy attack in battle is always redirected to the warlord, regardless of the initial target.
- Nowhere to Retreat (passive): when deployed at the Wall, the warlord increases garrison army morale by 100 points.
- Destructive Blow (passive): the warlord always deals critical damage to golems and dendroids, provided that a melee weapon is equipped.
New
- Berserker's Oath (passive): The warlord takes 35% reduced damage from Forest and Nature units attacks and skills.
- Face the Attack (passive): The first enemy attack or ability is redirected to the hero, regardless of who the actual target is. The hero's defense is increased by 50% during the first turn.
- Barbarian's Oath NEW (passive): The warlord's damage is increased by 30% against Forest and Nature units. Requires a non-magic melee weapon to be equipped.
Tier 4 skills (175 points)
Old
- Durability (active): grants the warlord a chance to be revived with 10% health points when slain in battle (only works once per battle).
- Giant Slayer (passive): increases warlord’s damage dealt to Bosses by 50%.
New
- Dark Intervention (active): The warlord will be revived with 30% health points when slain in battle and becomes immune to damage for the remainder of the turn (only works once per battle).
- Giant Slayer (passive): Increases warlord’s damage dealt to Bosses by 30%, epic units by 20% and enemy warlords by 10%.
- Unholy Strike NEW (passive): Squads attacked by the Warlord have their damage reduced by 10%, if it is a Forest or Nature unit their damage is reduced by 20%. Lasts 1 turn.
Ultimate skill (250 points)
Old
- Heroism (passive): increases army attack by 10% each time the warlord takes damage.
New
- Heroism (passive): Increases army attack by 15% each time the warlord takes damage.
DEXTERITY
Tier 1 skills (20 points)
Old
- Defender (active): grants the warlord a chance to retaliate for each attack on the allied units. The chance to retaliate is increased based on the attacker’s speed (higher means more likely).
- Aura of Dexterity (passive): increases physical attack and speed by 10% for all Fighters and Ranged Units.
- Precision (passive): increases bows’ attack values by 20%.
New
- Aura of Swiftness (passive): Increases physical attack and speed by 20% for all Fighters and Ranged Units.
- Ambidextrous (passive): Allows the warlord to dual wield one-handed weapons. The attack of the left handed weapon is reduced to 80%. Gives the warlord a 10% chance to block physical attacks.
- Master Archer (passive): Allows the warlord to equip a bow. Bow damage is then increased by 40%.
NOTE: in order to be able to equip a bow, a player must have the Master Archer perk unlocked.
Tier 2 skills (60 points)
Old
- Weapon in Two Hands (passive): allows dual-wielding of two one-handed weapons. Off-hand (second weapon slot) gets a 80% attack debuff.
- Marauding (passive): increases the warlord’s physical and magic defense by 15% each time the enemy squad is slain.
New
- Marauding (passive): Increases the warlord’s attack damage and speed by 15% each time the enemy squad is slain.
- Counter Attack (active): Grants the warlord a chance to retaliate for attacks on allied units. The greater the attacker's speed, the higher the chance of retaliating. Retaliation deals 150% of the Warlord's base damage.
- Ranger of Unity NEW (passive): The warlord can mix Forest and Nature units without a morale loss.
Tier 3 skills (120 points)
Old
- Poison (passive): first warlord’s basic attack poisons the target for 1 turn, provided that a non-magic weapon is equipped.
- Dodge (passive): the warlord ALWAYS dodges the first attack directed at them.
- Hunt (passive): the warlord deals 40% increased damage to Beasts, provided that a non-magic ranged weapon is equipped.
- Nowhere to Retreat (passive): when deployed at the Wall, the warlord increases garrison army morale by 100 points.
New
- Wanderer's Oath NEW (passive): The warlord takes 35% reduced damage from Feast and Water units attacks and skills.
- Poison (passive): The first attack poisons the target for 2 turns dealing 100% damage. Requires a non-magic ranged weapon or a non-magic one-handed weapon to be equipped.
- Ranger's Oath NEW (passive): The warlord's damage is increased by 30% against Feast and Water units. Requires a non-magic ranged weapon or a non-magic one-handed weapon to be equipped.
Tier 4 skills (175 points)
Old
- Monster Slayer (passive): increases warlord’s damage dealt to Epic tier units by 50%.
- Berserk (passive): increases warlord’s damage by 14% each time the warlord takes damage.
New
- Desperate Maneuver (passive): The warlord ALWAYS dodges the first attack that would kill them.
- Monster Slayer (passive): Increases warlord’s damage dealt to enemy Warlords by 30%, bosses by 20% and epic units by 10%.
- Wrath of Nature (passive): Increases warlord’s damage by 25% and speed by 10% each time the warlord takes damage.
Ultimate skill (250 points)
- Acrobatics (passive): Grants the warlord a chance to dodge an enemy attack. The chance to dodge is increased based on the warlord’s speed advantage over the attacking enemy unit.
MAGIC
Tier 1 skills (20 points)
Old
- Chain Lightning (active): grants a 35% chance to deal magic damage to 3 enemy units.
- Aura of Magic (passive): increases magic attack by 10% and defense by 25% for all Battle mage and Sorcerer units in the army.
- Item magic (passive): increases staves’ and wands’ attack values by 20%.
New
- Aura of Magic (passive): Increases magic attack by 20% and defense by 15% for all Battle mage and Sorcerer units in the army.
- Wandslinger (passive): Allows the warlord to dual wield wands. The attack of the left handed weapon is reduced to 70%. Gives the warlord a 10% chance to block magical attacks.
- Archmage (passive): Allows the warlord to equip a two-handed staff. Increases attack values of Staves by 35%.
NOTE: in order to be able to equip two-handed staff, a player must have the Archmage perk unlocked.
Tier 2 skills (60 points)
Old
- Versatility (passive): lowers the skill requirements to equip items by 5%.
- Vampirism (passive): allows the warlord to restore health points equal to 25% of damage dealt with a basic attack.
New
- Vampirism (passive): Allows the warlord to restore health points equal to 25% of damage dealt with a basic attack.
- Chain Lightning (active): Has a 35% chance of dealing magic damage to 3 enemy characters. Characters take from 25% to 75% damage.
- Wizard of Celebration NEW (passive): The warlord can mix Feast and Water units without a morale loss.
Tier 3 skills (120 points)
Old
- Fire Magic (passive): first warlord’s basic attack sets the target on fire for 1 turn, provided that a magic weapon is equipped.
- Revival of the Fallen (passive): Resurrects units killed by the first attack. Units resurrected: 50% of the initial quantity.
- Festival (passive): increases army morale by 125 if the enemy has Satyr units in their army.
- Nowhere to Retreat (passive): when deployed at the Wall, the warlord increases garrison army morale by 100 points.
New
- Sorcerer's Oath NEW (passive): The warlord takes 35% reduced damage from Sin and Stone units attacks and skills.
- Fire Magic (passive): The first attack sets the target on fire for 1 turn. Burning deals 150% damage. Requires a magic weapon to be equipped.
- Warlock's Oath NEW (passive): The warlord's damage is increased by 30% against Sin and Stone units. Requires a magic weapon to be equipped.
Tier 4 skills (175 points)

- Resurrection (active): grants the warlord a 40% chance to resurrect 20% units of the perished squad.
- Silence (active): prohibits a random enemy unit from using their abilities at the beginning of a battle.
New
- Resurrection (active): Grants the warlord a 40% chance to resurrect 40% units of the perished squad.
- Silence (active): Prohibits a random enemy unit from using their ability at the beginning of a battle.
- Icy Retribution NEW (passive): Every time the Warlord takes damage, the attacking squads defense is reduced by 20% and their speed is reduced by 15%.
Ultimate skill (250 points)
Old
- Unity (passive): restores 100 health points and increases magic attack by 100 each time a unit is slain.
New
- Unity (passive): restores 150 health points and increases magic attack by 150 each time a unit is slain.
